A digital set up based mostly on the Berlin duo’s new album, an exploration of synthetic intelligence.
On their current album Anarchic Synthetic Intelligence (AAI), Berlin duo Mouse on Mars collaborated with author and scholar Louis Chude-Sokei, a collective of pc programmers and frequent Mouse On Mars percussionist Dodo NKishi, to create an album that explores synthetic intelligence as each a story framework and compositional instrument.
The duo enlisted AI collective Birds on Mars and former SoundCloud programmers Ranny Keddo and Derrek Kindle, who created bespoke speech-modelling software program that fed textual content and voice from Chude-Sokei and producer Yağmur Uçkunkaya into the system, permitting Mouse on Mars to regulate and play their speech like a synthesizer.
“We have now to let AI develop qualities that we connect to people, like empathy, imperfection, and distraction,” Mouse on Mars’s Jan Werner explains. “To not keep away from machines turning into rivals who will do issues quicker or higher, however as a result of we’ll keep caught in our selfishness, concern and xenophobia if we don’t speak in confidence to these new ideas of life machines are ready signify.”
So as to current AAI as a part of CTM Pageant 2021’s on-line programme, Mouse on Mars reimagined the album as an set up that may be skilled via the pageant’s digital area, Cyberia. The piece is accompanied by visuals, based mostly on pc generated stills by Casey Reas, inventor of the pc graphics language, Processing. Above, Truth presents a video walkthrough of the set up, which you’ll access through Cyberia till March 14, 2021.
